The owner, Fortunato Conte, was born and raised in Salerno, along Italy’s Amalfi Coast. At the age of 17 he began his career at Salerno’s oldest and most renowned pastry shop, Pasticceria Pantaleone. Later he came to the USA and delighted many locals and tourists with his creations while working at some of the most well-known pastry shops in Boston’s historic North End.

As of August 2008, Fortunato has embarked on a new voyage with his family, namely Soleil Café. He is committed to bringing to Somerville a taste of Neapolitan cuisine and pastry.

Perhaps our best-kept secret is Italian Gelato made in Sapri, Italy. Try it by itself or inside one our homemade Brioche like the Italians in Amalfi and Positano.

Soleil Café takes pride in bringing its customers’ palates the simple, yet authentic taste of food from the Campania Region with the freshest ingredients and the love for good food so typical of native Italians.
